The U.S. Army Telemedicine and Advanced Technology Research Center has awarded a $730,000 grant to the data integration group LiveData to develop standards for clinical information integration: the company will use the funds to develop an integrated clinical environment through its MD-ICEMAN project, a collaborative effort of the Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology, LiveData and Massachusetts General Hospital.
The MD-ICEMAN project aims to boost patient care coordination in operating rooms by harmonizing clinical information from multiple medical devices. Health care providers can use the integrated system to monitor patients and detect changes in their conditions.
Organizers say the project could improve medical workflow, lower health care costs, provide information for electronic health records and reduce medical errors.
